York Shakespeare Project

Sunday April 28, 5:00pm

York St John University Creative Arts Centre Auditorium

In a rare opportunity to experience John Fletcher’s sequel to Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, York Shakespeare Project presents a rehearsed reading of the Jacobean comedy, The Tamer Tamed (or The Woman’s Prize), directed by Claire Morley.

The widowed Petruchio has a new wife and a new challenge as the taming tables are turned.

Fletcher borrows characters from Shakespeare (and Ben Jonson) and a key plot device from Aristophanes’ Lysistrata and the result is a richly entertaining exploration of marriage and relationships.

Don’t miss the chance to witness the cast of YSP’s Taming of the Shrew present Fletcher’s bold and lively response to Shakespeare’s play.
